Kamuela (Waimea)

Located at a 2600 foot elevation, this quiet little town of rainbows, green-rolling hills, cool temperatures and picturesque mountain views will steal your heart. Nestled between the Kohala mountain range and Mauna Kea, the tallest mountain in the world (from ocean floor to summit), it offers virtually everything you need within walking distance. The town is made up of paniolo (Hawaiian cowboys), ranchers and farmers, as well as artists and local resort industry workers. It is also home to Parker Ranch, formerly the largest privately owned ranch in the world. You will see strong evidence of the ranch’s still commanding presence in the culture, life-force, and vitality of the town.
